Hello Everybody,
I was looking on CNN website at the 2008 Fortune 500 list, and here are the top 20 companies:
1. Wal-Mart Stores
2. Exxon Mobil
3. Chevron
4. General Motors
5. ConocoPhillips
6. General Electric
7. Ford Motor
8. Citigroup
9. Bank of America
10. AT&T
11. Berkshire Hathaway
12. J.P. Morgan Chase & Co.
13. AIG
14. Hewlett-Packard
15. IBM
16. Valero Energy
17. Verizon Communications
18. McKesson
19. Cardinal Health
20. Goldman Sachs
Notice something? Even with oil prices through the roof and the economy in a slump, a majority of the top companies are OIL and ENERGY companies, with banks, communications, and health companies filling the gaps. Companies are folding left and right, but these companies are riding strong. Coincidence? Not at all.
What are you doing to secure your future? Are you saving? Do you have a plan in the event that the company you work for went out of business tomorrow? How much money do you blow on things you really don’t need? I hear people talking about how much they hate their job, their co-workers, their car, their house, etc. What about the people who just lost their job, can’t afford to keep or put gas in their car, and are homeless because of natural disaster? Everyone needs to come to terms and realize that the world is evolving outside of our immediate situation.
Consider this either your wakeup call or confirmation of the changes you need to make. It definitely made me think – in the past I have been guilty of many of the things I just mentioned. Everyone - WE NEED TO STEP UP OUR GAME. What are your long term goals?
